Sintesis Zeolit4 Adengan Metoda Konversi Hydrothermal Kaolin

Abstract


The synthesis of zolite 4A from kaolinite has been done. The synthesis was carriedout by mixing of kaolinite and sodium hydroxide inaqueous solution for 8 hours,then the solution was crystalized at 100oC for 8 hours. The product was washed outuntil neutral pH and followed by drying at 120oC for 3hours. The product was thencharacterized by using infrared spectrophotometry and x-ray difractometry. Somephysical parameter of the reaction, those are the variation amount of sodiumhydroxide (10/4; 10/6; 10/8; and 10/12) , time of gel formation, and particle size ofkaolinite (100, 200, and 400mesh). To obtain more crystallinity of zeolit 4A, theeffect temperature gel formation at 70 oC by mixing 3 hours have also beenstudied. The results show that the zeolite 4A can be obtained in the ratio 12/10 ofkaolinite to sodium hydroxide and temperature gel formation at 70 oC.
