Abstract

Waters are often contaminated by heavy metals such as cadmium, mercury andlead. Although a low lead content in water but the lead is known to accumulate inthe body and remains in a long time so it is a poison. Methods for the analysis ofPb(II) has been developed such as Atomic Absorption spectrophotometry (AAS)and solid phase extraction. Although both methods are quite simple and sensitive atppm concentration levels, but the ion selectivity for Pb(II) is still lacking. Toovercome these weaknesses in this study was carried out development of solid-phase extraction method using chelating polymers by functionalization of thepolymer is to synthesize Pb(II)-imprinted polymer (Pb-IP). Pb-IP is synthesizedthrough thermal polymerization antranilic acid, salicylic acid and formaldehyde inthe presence of metal complexes of Pb(II)-4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol.Stoichiometric ratio for the binary complex Pb and 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol isdetermined by the method of job. Pb-IP synthesis results were characterized b yFTIR and the optimum conditions for Pb-IP meretensi Pb(II) is determined by themethod bacth. Pb-IP prakonsentrasi synthesized and used for determination ofPb(II) in river water samples. In this study successfully synthesized Pb(II)-imprinted polymer (Pb-IP) with thermal polymerization by heating for 6 hours, at atemperature of 140 ± 10 °C with complex stoichiometric ratio of Pb : PAR is 1: 1.Characterization with FTIR results showed Pb-IP synthesis results have groupscorresponding function. Adsoprsi maximum capacity for Pb(II) is 12,5 ppm is 3515μg/g at pH 6 with a contact time of 80 minutes. The results of adsorption anddesorption of Pb-IP on Pb(II) showed an average percent recovery > 97%. Whilethe Pb-IP applications on the river water samples obtained prakonsentrasi factor 41times, the concentration of Pb(II) is 0.96 ppm were found, and the percent recover yof 96.77%. With the results of these experiments, Pb(II)-imprinted polymer (Pb-IP)is proven as a functional material having a performance, selectivity level, andregenerate high.
