Abstract

Transesterification is a reaction between oil (tryglecerida) and alcohol, creating fatty acid alkyl ester. Plastisizer is one of the commercial product of fatty acid alkylester. Plasticizers from bio-oil production is still very limited, it is necessary todevelop a bio-oil-based plasticizers. In this research, the synthesis of plasticizers bytransesterification reaction using an activated natural zeolite catalysts to H-zeolite,with variations of stirring speed (175, 200 and 225 rpm), H-zeolite catalystcomposition (10%, 15% and 20%) by weight based waste oil catfish and the molarratio of reactants (1:6, 1:9, and 1:12) , with a fixed variable is 104-106oC reactiontemperature, reaction time 6 h and. Transesterification of the test results showedthat the molar ratio, H-zeolite catalyst composition and stirring speed affects thespeed of the reaction to reach equilibrium. The best operating conditions obtainedin this study is the molar ratio of 1: 9, stirring speed 225 rpm, 20% catalystcomposition and reaction time 6 hours reaction resulting in a conversion of 29.7%.Characteristics of plasticizers produced in this study meets the standards ofcommercial plasticizers, with 5,380 mPa s viscosity values, specific gravity (30oC)and 0.860 saponification number is 132.401 mg KOH/gr Sample.
