PENGARUH MODEL PENGERINGAN DAN KEPADATAN BAHAN TERHADAP RENDEMEN DAN MUTU MINYAK NILAM (Pogestemon cablin Benth)

Abstract


The aim of research is to determine the drying model and the density of the material inthe distillation kettle right to the yield oil and quality of patchouli oil. The experimentwas designed as factorial in randomized block design, with two factor. The first factor(A) was drying models, consisted of two levels : A1 ( sundrying one day and airdryng3-4 day), A2 (sundrying two days and airdrying one day and sundrying again one day).The second factors (B) the density of the material in distillation kette consisted of fourlevels : (B1=90gr/lt, B2=100gr/lt, B3=110gr/lt and B4=120gr/lt). Replication perfomedthree times and continued with DNMRT test if there any real difference. The parameterused were yield oil, refractive index, specific gravity, solubility in alcohol and estervalue. The result showed the value of yield oil, specific gravity and refractive index thehighest of contained in the combined treatment (sundrying one day and airdrying 3-4days and the material density of 110 gr/lt). For optical rotation and ester value thehighest value contained in the combined treatment sundrying one day and airdrying 3-4days and and the material density of 90 gr/lt in the distillation kettle. For solubility inalcohol highest value contained in the combined treatment is sundrying two days andairdrying one day and sundrying again one day and the density of material 100 gr/lt inthe distillation kettle. Patchouli oil quality still produced the quality standard ofIndonesia patchouli oil (SNI).
