Abstract

Bagasse is the residue of sugarcane processing after taking the liquid, which isusually not used (wasted). The bagasse can be processed into other products like intooxalic acid, the cellulose contained therein fused with NaOH solution. The researchwas carried out by varying the concentration of NaOH 1N, 2N, 3N, 4N and 5N to 15g bagasse, smelting time 105 menit in a glass beaker inserted into the oven with atemperature of 180 0C. The results were tested with IR, and melting point. From theresearch it can be concluded that the resulting product is + Oxalic Acid, andoperating conditions that produce a lot of products that are at concentrations 4N,with the acquisition of 5,45%

Keywords: bagasse, cellulose, NaOH, oxalic acid
