Abstract

Palm shell charcoal is a waste of liquid smoke, which is activated using water vaporthat can serve as heavy metal adsorbent. Waste that pollutes the waters covering avariety of pollutants, either in the form of organic and inorganic waste. This researchwas conducted to study the effect of stirring speed and temperature on the poweradsorption Cu and Cu adsorption kinetics study. The study begins with themanufacture of activated charcoal by pyrolysis at temperatures of 350°C with a timeof 2 hours long. Then activated charcoal activated by heating using a tube furnace ata temperature of 800°C for 60 minutes. Adsorption process is conducted in this studyin batch by varying the adsorption temperature (27°C, 35°C, and 45°C) and varyingthe stirring speed (200, 300, 400, and 500 rpm) with a size of -40 +60 mesh carbon. Results adsorption measured using atomic absorption spectrofotometer (AAS).Adsorption kinetics of Cu2+ followed the first order. Greatest absorption rate constantvalues obtained at stirring speed 500 rpm and a temperature of 35°C is 0,0296 (min)-1.
